All Backrooms Levels in Escape the Backrooms
The game features 27+ backrooms levels — each a unique dimension with its own environment, puzzles, and hostile entities. Below is every level in the game, organized by the order you encounter them.
Main Story Backrooms Levels (1-17)
These backrooms levels form the critical path through the game:
Level 0 — The Lobby
The iconic yellow backrooms. Your first introduction to the game. Find ladder pieces, repair the exit, and escape before the Howler arrives. Difficulty: Easy
Level 1 — Habitable Zone (Parking Garage)
A three-stage challenge: color code puzzle on cars, key collection while the Skin-Stealer hunts, and navigating pitch darkness with the Smiler. Difficulty: Hard
Level 2 — Pipe Dreams
Pure chase sequence through maintenance tunnels. The Spider Smiler pursues you — don't look back. Take the first left door. Difficulty: Medium
Level 3 — Electrical Station
Activate 9 fuse boxes across 3 zones while Hounds patrol. Progress saves on death. Use flashlight to blind Hounds. Difficulty: Hard
Level 4 — Abandoned Office
Count objects for vending machine codes, then sneak past 4 CCTV cameras. Window Monster attacks through uncovered windows. Difficulty: Medium
Level 5 — Terror Hotel
The longest early-game backrooms level: painting puzzle → Bug Spray → Moth Jelly → Hotel Rooms → Boiler Room with heat mechanics. Difficulty: Extreme
Level 6 — Lights Out
Absolute darkness. Your flashlight doesn't work here. Use the LiDAR scanner to navigate and track the Wretch via its red dot. Difficulty: Hard
Level 7 — Thalassophobia
Row through fog to a lighthouse, then dive into deep water where The Thing lurks. Use flares and the Diving Helmet. Difficulty: Hard
Level 8 — Cave System
Navigate dark caves with Female Deathmoths and flashlight Skin-Stealers. Cross the rickety bridge without running. Difficulty: Medium
Level 9 — Darkened Suburbs
Survive under the Neighborhood Watch eye in the sky. Activate computers in houses, trap a Wretch for its keycard. Difficulty: Extreme
Level 10 — The Fields
Activate windmills while the chainsaw-wielding Faceling patrols. Stay in the wheat fields — never use the main road. Difficulty: Medium
Level Fun (=) — The Party Room
27 Partygoers patrol a twisted celebration. Pure stealth: crouch, hide under tables, never pop balloons, never drink Liquid Pain. Difficulty: Extreme
Level 37 — The Poolrooms
Iconic poolrooms: pale yellow tiles, shallow water, arched ceilings. Navigate clean vs infected water tiles. Difficulty: Medium
Level ! — Run For Your Life!
Pure chase through hospital corridors. Unlimited stamina — just sprint. Right, then left. Ignore the decoy door. Difficulty: Hard
The End — Library
Collect 24-48 video tapes while The Scratcher hunts you. Use 2 fire alarms strategically. Search systematically. Difficulty: Hard
Level 94 — Hill Houses
Day-night cycle: travel during 3-minute day, hide during 1-minute night. Reach the floating castle and defeat the Animated King. Difficulty: Extreme
Level 55.1 — Wrong Door (Final Level)
The final story backrooms level. Take 6 photos matching reference images while infinite Smilers, a Howler, and a Skin-Stealer hunt you. Difficulty: Extreme
Secret & Hidden Backrooms Levels
These backrooms levels are off the critical path and often lead to alternate endings:
Level 0.11 — The Return
A remixed version of Level 0 with a timer. Pull 4 levers before they reset while the Howler is permanently active. Hide in ground vents. Difficulty: Hard
Level 0.2 — The Bone Thief
Red-lit Level 0 variant. Activate 5 fuse boxes to seal the Bone Thief's tunnel gate. Noclipping floors lead to hidden areas. Difficulty: Hard
Level 188 — The Courtyard
Place 3 TV sets by the blue-curtained window to open the courtyard. Navigate past Aranea Membri webs and Window Monsters. Difficulty: Medium
Level 37.2 — Dark Poolrooms
Darker, deadlier Poolrooms. Navigate by boat, turn valves to raise water, avoid the Clump and widespread Hydrolitis Plague. Difficulty: Hard
Level Fun+ — The Party Host
Complete 4 key routes, then defeat the Party Host boss with Fireworks — the only entity in the game that can be killed. Difficulty: Extreme
Level 52 — The Partypooper
Follow a friendly NPC with a flashlight through a Partygoer zone. Stay in his light. Don't fall behind. Difficulty: Medium
Level !-! — Hotel Chase
Another pure chase, this time through a hotel. The Clump and Smilers pursue you. Unlimited stamina — run! Difficulty: Hard
Level 3999 — The Snackrooms (True Escape)
