Co-op Strategy Guide
Advanced strategies for 2-4 player teams. Communication tactics, role assignments, entity scaling, and level-specific co-op tips.
Why Play Co-op?
Escape the Backrooms is designed with co-op in mind. While solo play is possible, many levels are significantly harder alone. Co-op allows for role specialization, split searching, and most importantly — someone to confirm you're not the Skin-Stealer.
Role Assignments
- Point Person: Leads the group, opens doors first, makes path decisions.
- Flashlight Operator: Keeps light on at all times, blinds Hounds, suppresses Smilers.
- Item Carrier: Holds key items (Bug Spray, keys, etc.) and manages inventory.
- Rear Guard: Watches the back, closes doors behind the group, calls out pursuing entities.
Communication Protocols
- Call out every door closure: "Door closed behind me."
- Verify identity constantly: In Skin-Stealer levels, call out your position every 30 seconds.
- Announce entity sightings immediately: "Hound, left corridor, 20 meters."
- Count down for synchronized actions: "Turning all keys on 3... 2... 1..."
Entity Scaling
With more players, the game adds more entities and increases objective requirements:
- Level 3: More Hounds patrol with each additional player.
- The End: Tape requirements increase (24 → 32 → 48).
- Level Fun: Partygoer count remains at 27 regardless, but they spread out more to cover multiple players.
